For cutting wood, Stellite class № 12 is the best option. It consists of 52 % Cobalt, 30% Chromium, 9% Wolfram and 1.8 % carbon with hardness of 47-51 HRC.
These band saw blades are recommended in the following cases:
• To increase the time of work between the sharpening;
• To get a certain surface coating, without roughness on the wood material;
• To cut hardwood;
• To gain a less loss of sawdust;
• For cutting frozen wood;
The Stellit cutting edge can be sharpened from 8 to 20 times. After the last sharpening, new Stellit must be put. How many sharpening processes can be done, depend on the circumstances of cutting, trees condition (If they are clean or not) and the work hours of the blade.
